Prior to the 2023 SDG16 conference in Rome, the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS), the Transparency, Accountability & Participation (TAP) Network and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) will be hosting a pre-conference Civil Society Day, to provide a space for all civil society participants to coordinate and meet before the official beginning of the conference.
Registration is required to attend this pre-conference.

Background
In the lead up to the 2023 SDG16 Conference, CSPPS, the TAP Network and IDLO are hosting a Civil Society Day on Monday 29 May for which all civil society participants attending the SDG16 Conference are invited. The meeting will also have a hybrid segment that allows for online participation. The main aims of this event are to review and discuss the final version of the 2023 Rome Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+, which will be presented during the plenary session of the Conference and to discuss civil society inputs towards the SDG16 Conference.
The 2023 Rome Civil Society Declaration is an important element for mobilising civil society advocacy around the 2023 HLPF in July and the SDG Summit in September. This year marks the mid-point review of the 2030 Agenda, making it a crucial year to gather stakeholders to discuss way to accelerate action on SDG16 and put it at the forefront of international dialogues. A hybrid format will be assured for the review process of the final version of the 2023 Rome Declaration in order to ensure the presence and participation of civil society colleagues that are not able to attend the 2023 Rome Conference in person.
