IDLO is primarily a field organization: most of our staff, and our entire program activities, are to be found in developing countries. With project offices from Afghanistan to Uganda, we are active in some of the world’s most challenging zones, and offer development law solutions to dozens of countries at any one time.
It is hard to think of a developing country that has not benefitted from our capacity-building. This includes post-conflict and fragile states, but also middle-income nations and nations in transition. Governments and citizens trust us because we are both jurists and development professionals, both thinkers and practitioners.
They also trust us because we do not dictate, take sides, or work from a template. Our solutions are as varied as the settings we operate in, and our programs largely locally-owned.
