The spectre of extremist violence looms large over Somalia and its capital Mogadishu. Separate attacks have caused more than 1,000 casualties in the last six months alone, and the population lives under a constant threat of violence.

The 62^nd session of the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will be held at the United Nations in New York from March 12 to 23, 2018. The Commission is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of women’s rights, gender equality and the empowerment of women.
