Land, Environment and Natural Resource Management

The drafters of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 saw it necessary to include progressive provisions related to environment and natural resource management. These provisions gave impetus to new laws, policies and other enabling legal instruments at the national and county levels.

As part of its work to assist Kenya in implementing the Constitution, IDLO supports legal, policy and institutional reforms by key institutions within the land, environment and natural resources management sector. Reforms enacted and proposed to date have covered areas seen as having the potential to contribute significantly to Kenya’s economic development, such as mining, minerals, water, energy, forest and wildlife conservation, community land, marine pollution prevention, and agriculture and livestock research.
