This sub-project aims to advance accountability for international crimes in Ukraine. In order to enhance integrity and accountability-focused judicial reform, the Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC) is organizing a national conference on Integrity and Anti-Corruption in the Judiciary to raise awareness on the topics and build networks among Dutch and Ukrainian judges, court staff and experts. CILC is also supporting partner courts in Ukraine in the development and dissemination of an Integrity Policy and, in cooperation with the National School of Judges of Ukraine, is delivering a training on integrity for judges and court staff. Furthermore, the implementing partner is facilitating consultation with a range of stakeholders on legislative proposals related to the criminal justice chain for law makers in Ukraine to support institutions working on judicial reforms. Finally, CILC is piloting a project to increase probation and alternative sanctions in Ukraine by enhancing community service sanctions; delivering training on basic probation skills to probation officers; developing and incorporating a training of trainers module in the training curriculum of the Department for Probation of the Academy; raising awareness, organizing discussions and exposure visits for judges, public prosecutors, staff of the probation services and the Bar on the benefits and advantages of probation services.
