This sub-project aims to contribute to an enabling environment in Uganda in support of fiscal and regulatory measures that promote healthy diets and physical activity. Building on the results of the first phase of the sub-project, the Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT) is delivering a series of workshops to civil society organizations (CSOs), legal practitioners, the media, judicial officers and the Uganda Human Rights Commission on fiscal and regulatory frameworks that promote healthy diets and physical activity to strengthen stakeholders’ capacity to advocate for policy in this area. CEFROHT is also convening meetings of the Advocacy Working Group, established during Phase I, charged with carrying out advocacy and social mobilization activities that promote healthy diets and physical activity. In order to support advocacy in the Government’s policy priority areas, CEFROHT is further engaging with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Trade and the Kampala Capital City Authority, disseminating relevant policy briefs and holding national and regional policy dialogues with policymakers and key Government stakeholders. Finally, the implementing partner is conducting a series of awareness-raising activities to sensitize CSOs, media practitioners, the academia, justice actors, policymakers and the general public on the promotion of healthy diets and physical activity through regulatory measures.
