This sub-project aimed to contribute to enhancing access to justice for marginalized and vulnerable communities in Uganda. Building on the results achieved during the first phase of the sub-project, the Uganda Law Society (ULS) provided legal advice, counselling services and court representation and conducted mediation sessions for vulnerable persons in the communities of Gulu, Jinja, Kabale, Kabarole, Kampala, and Masindi. In order to increase stakeholder participation in the provision of legal aid services, ULS organized a series of sensitization sessions on human rights, gender, and available legal services, and disseminated information, communication, and education materials in the target communities. Furthermore, ULS delivered training sessions for community-based volunteers on basic laws and procedures related to land rights, succession, children, and family laws to enhance on-spot legal services in the communities, ensuring that individuals are better equipped to address their legal needs.
