This sub-project aimed to reduce the number of cases dismissed and acquitted by the Tribunal de Grande Instance (TGI) of Ségou, Mali. The Organisation Non Gouvernementale WALE mapped the structures linked to the TGI of Ségou, including police, gendarmerie and town halls, in order to identify beneficiaries for the training on the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and judicial management aimed at enhancing the quality of investigation reports developed by the judicial police officers and agents. In order to foster the sustainability of the sub-project, the implementing partner also supported the establishment of four (4) community groups in the cities of Segou, Sébougou and Pélengana, composed of trained youth and local leaders, who run awareness-raising sessions on basic legal concepts (e.g., basis of Mali’s jurisdictions; criminal and civil procedures) for community members, with a focus on women and youth, to enhance their knowledge on the tools available to access justice.
