Under the second phase of the Global Regulatory and Fiscal Capacity Building Programme (RECAP II), this sub-project aims to contribute to the promotion of conducive regulatory and policy frameworks for healthy diets and physical activity for all to prevent non-communicable diseases through advocacy and multisectoral coordination in Kenya. Building on the results of previous programming, the Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network on HIV&AIDS (KELIN) is conducting a series of awareness-raising and sensitization sessions for policymakers and key national stakeholders, such as civil society organizations, lawyers and research institutions, on the adoption of Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling standards and the development of guidelines on the restriction on marketing of foods and non-alcoholic beverages to children. KELIN is further developing a policy brief on physical activity through a consultative process to secure commitments from policymakers. Furthermore, the implementing partner is delivering capacity development activities on litigation of nutrition-related cases and the adoption of a rights-based approach for lawyers to lead to progressive positive jurisprudence in the RECAP policy areas for the promotion of healthy diets and physical activity. Finally, in collaboration with other RECAP implementing partners, KELIN is organizing an East African Regional Dialogue in Kenya to advocate for the above policy measures with key policymakers.
