This sub-project aimed to strengthen access to justice for vulnerable people in Tunisia through a participatory and human rights-based approach. The Association NESS pour la Prévention Combinée (NESS) enhanced the knowledge of 25 representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) of key human rights principles, constitutional rights, related advocacy, and available support services. Specifically, the implementing partner, in collaboration with CSOs working on constitutional rights, developed an advocacy strategy to deal with human rights violations and organized a capitalization workshop for CSO representatives to discuss the unconstitutional articles of the penal code and their impact on marginalized groups. NESS also developed a training module for CSOs to strengthen their capacities to provide legal aid to marginalized groups and use a referral system. Finally, NESS provided support to marginalized groups, including women-victims of gender-based violence, referred by the National Observatory for the Fight against Violence against Women, by facilitating access to available legal aid services provided by the Ministry of Justice, Avocats sans Frontières, and the Association de Défense des Libertés Individuelles.
