Mongolia's justice system has seen progress in recent years, yet the need for greater judicial transparency, including through improved media coverage of court proceedings, remains.
IDLO, with support from the European Union, is working with the Government of Mongolia to tackle the issue through the project "Judicial Engagement and Transparency."
The initiative, which runs from 2024 to 2026, aims to foster greater openness and accountability within Mongolia’s justice system, by increasing the judiciary’s understanding of free media, strengthening the skills of journalists and civil society organizations on justice matters, and building stronger relationships between all stakeholders.
Key activities include training judicial actors in media engagement, equipping journalists with skills in legal reporting and gender-sensitive coverage and strengthening civil society advocacy capacities.
