Building on results achieved through previous programming, this sub-project aims to strengthen access to justice for the vulnerable and marginalized communities in Uganda. In order to increase the ability of vulnerable and marginalized persons to exercise and claim their rights, the Uganda Law Society (ULS) is conducting a series of community awareness-raising activities on legal rights, justice pathways, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms and available legal services. ULS is also providing quality legal aid services targeting sub-project beneficiaries, including legal representation in Courts of Law, mediation, negotiation and reconciliation services, counselling, referral services and support with the execution of court judgments on land matters, among other. In addition, ULS is delivering a series of capacity development activities to justice actors on survivor-centred and trauma-informed approaches when handling cases involving gender-based violence, family disputes, and child protection, as well as the use of ADR mechanisms. Finally, ULS is facilitating coordination meetings and justice feedback mechanisms among state and non-state justice actors to strengthen joint action and collaboration in delivering effective and efficient justice services to vulnerable and marginalized communities.
