This sub-project sought to facilitate national and international collaboration among lawyers, policymakers, researchers, civil society organizations (CSOs) and local communities to create a supportive regulatory and fiscal environment that promotes healthy diets and physical activity. In order to enhance engagement and coordination among the key stakeholders in advocacy for regulatory reforms on healthy diets and physical activity, the Tanzania NCD Alliance (TANCDA) developed an advocacy and communication strategy, including a set of policy briefs on regulatory and fiscal measures to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Furthermore, TANCDA disseminated information, education and communication materials through the media and held a series of local and regional meetings based on participatory and human rights approaches with CSOs, media, academia and the local communities to sensitize the participants on the role of the law in addressing NCDs.
