Building on the results achieved through the previous phase, this sub-project aims to strengthen the capacity of community leaders and members of special delegations to address gender-based violence (GBV) and raise awareness of this issue among women and girls. In order to enhance legal support and judicial assistance for GBV survivors, the Association d'Appui et d'Eveil Pugsada (ADEP) is delivering a three (3)-day training session for community leaders and members of special delegations on women and girls’ rights, GBV and related legislation, detention law and available access to justice services. ADEP is also providing technical and operational support to Legal and Judicial Assistance Committees to deliver trauma counselling and legal services for GBV survivors, and raising awareness of the community on GBV, judicial remedies, and detention law through radio broadcasts and dissemination of informational materials. Finally, in order to enhance community knowledge of their rights and access to justice, ADEP is organizing a series of conferences on the provisions of the Penal Code relating to the rights of GBV survivors and detention law.
