This sub-project aimed to improve access to legal aid for the population of the northern region of Burkina Faso. To this end, the Association Monde Rurale (AMR) delivered a series of training sessions on criminal law, criminal procedure, judicial monitoring and reporting, fair trial principles and rights of detainees for members of civil society organizations (CSOs) and community members; developed and aired on local radios awareness-raising messages on available legal clinics, rights of people in custody, remedies and criminal offences and rights of detainees; and delivered a series of capacity development activities on holistic care for victims and survivors of gender-based violence, children rights and rights of persons with disabilities for CSOs, legal clinics and community members. Furthermore, AMR supported the establishment and operationalization of two (2) mobile legal clinics, through the development of legal tools and training of CSOs members on legal assistance, to enhance the monitoring of compliance with criminal procedure processes.
