Under the second phase of the Global Regulatory and Fiscal Capacity Building Programme (RECAP II), this sub-project aims to foster transparent and inclusive legal and policy environments in Indonesia to promote healthier food systems through civil society engagement. In order to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) to advocate for and monitor the implementation of regulatory and policy measures for healthy diet promotion through inclusive and evidence-based approaches, the Center for Indonesia's Strategic Development Initiatives (CISDI) is expanding an existing health advocacy coalition of CSOs and community groups to include expertise in human rights, gender, youth, and law. CISDI is also delivering a series of capacity development activities to coalition members on advocacy strategies, regulatory and policy frameworks related to healthy diets, incorporating gender equality, disability, social inclusion and human rights-based approach principles. Furthermore, based on the findings from a series of photovoice and dialogue sessions held with the community - to document their experience with local food systems, identify policy gaps, and propose solutions - CISDI is developing advocacy materials that will support the launch and implementation of campaigns aimed at raising awareness about RECAP policy reforms. In addition, in order to support effective policymaker engagement, CISDI is developing tools, guidelines and materials for CSOs to propose actionable and evidence-based policy recommendations. Finally, CISDI is facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations to address policy challenges and establishing structured communication channels to ensure that policymakers respond to CSO recommendations.
