Women and the law: Is the law with us or against us?

2 Oct 2018

While women have made great strides in bringing about gender-responsive laws, available evidence consistently points to serious gaps in ensuring legal protection for women and girls. Recent figures have shown that inadequate legal protection affects over 2.5 billion women. On September 25, 2018, IDLO, in partnership with Women, Business and the Law and Knowledge Platform Security and Rule of Law, organized a panel discussion on the impact of laws on the economic rights of women. Following the panel event, IDLO's Senior Legal Advisor on Gender, Rea Chiongson talks about the role of law in women’s economic rights with Tanya Primiani, Senior Investment Policy Officer of the Women, Business and the Law program at the World Bank Group.
