Strengthening cooperation between IDLO and Vietnam

IDLO and the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice (MoJ) have signed a Cooperation Agreement to facilitate joint work to support the justice sector in Vietnam and to further strengthen the relationship between IDLO and Vietnam. The agreement comes after Vietnam joined IDLO as a member party at its annual Assembly of Parties on November 29, 2016.

On February 23, 2017, the agreement was signed, at a ceremony held by the Ministry of Justice in Hanoi, by Dang Hoang Oanh, Director General, Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry and Ted Hill, IDLO Senior Program Development Specialist.

During the signing ceremony, which was attended by senior members of the Ministry of Justice, Ms. Dang expressed, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice, the hope that the Cooperation Agreement would provide the basis for joint work to support the development of Vietnam’s justice sector. Mr. Hill stated that IDLO looks forward to working with the Ministry of Justice and thanked the Ministry for its reception of IDLO in Vietnam, as well as for providing key insights into the developmental needs of the justice sector.

During the mission, Mr. Hill held meetings with various representatives of the MOJ and with other Vietnamese justice sector institutions, including the Vietnamese Bar Federation, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy.
