IDLO Gender Violence Work Echoes Widely in Honduras

The First Lady of Honduras, Ana García de Hernández, the President of the Supreme Court, diplomats and government officials were among those who joined IDLO in Tegucigalpa on 27 October 2014 to review the results of the organization's work in the country.

Over the past two years, with funding from the EU's EUROsociAL II program, IDLO has been supporting the Honduran judiciary in establishing services to assist victims of gender violence.

The event, held at the Presidential Palace, was extensively covered by national media, with IDLO representatives participating in three live TV shows during the day.

Violence against women is endemic in Honduras. Since its inauguration in March 2014, CAPRODEM - the Center for the Protection of the Rights of Women established in Tegucigalpa with IDLO's help – has provided support and legal counsel to over 160  women.
