As Yemen launched its democratic transformation, its judiciary requested IDLO’s technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of new and sitting judges and staff. Working with the High Judicial Institute in Sana’a, we have helped officials train new judges, by providing technical guidance to draft and update the Institute’s curriculum, while delivering training sessions on commercial and maritime law.
IDLO has helped to organize continuing education for First Instance and Appeal Court judges from various provinces. We have also conducted a Training of Trainers workshop. A study visit to Rome for Yemeni 10 judges, identified during capacity building sessions, is scheduled for mid-2014.In consultation with national stakeholders, IDLO has coordinated, supervised and drafted two judicial benchbooks, one on civil and commercial procedures law and the other on the enforcement of civil judicial decisions.
