Amount awarded:
UGX 517,489,012
Duration:
avril, 2023 - septembre, 2023

Building on the results achieved during the previous phase, the sub-project aimed to further enhance access to justice for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized people in Uganda by strengthening the capacity of legal aid service providers (LASPs) to deliver quality legal aid services. In order to achieve the sub-project objectives, the Legal Aid Service Providers Network (LASPNET) delivered a series of training sessions on effective service delivery in line with its Capacity Development Strategy 2022 - 2026, reviewing LASPs’ operating procedures and systems, and provided technical Integrated Information Management System support to LASPs and their Call Centres established during Phase I. Furthermore, in order to raise awareness of legal aid services among local communities and foster coordination between formal and informal justice actors, LASPNET facilitated a series of information-sharing platforms to deliberate effective strategies to enhance access to justice; facilitated advocacy meetings among key Government stakeholders to fast track the enactment of the National Legal Aid Bill, and delivered awareness-raising activities on the Bill on media channels.
