This sub-project aims to enhance sustainable access to justice for adequate living rights (ALRs) for vulnerable rural communities in Buyende, Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts in Uganda. The Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT) is delivering a series of capacity development and awareness-raising activities for formal justice actors and community members on the use of 2019 Human Rights Enforcement Act (HREA) and ALRs. In addition, in order to enhance the utilization of the 2019 HREA by magistrates and justice seekers, CEFROHT is advocating for and supporting the development of related court rules. Furthermore, the implementing partner is delivering a series of workshops on advocacy and social mobilization mechanisms and developing Terms of Reference for Community Advocacy Groups established during the first phase of the sub-project, to support their operationalization. CEFROHT is also conducting a series of training sessions and community barazas on the 2019 HREA, access to justice, ALRs and economic and property entitlements for formal and informal justice actors and duty bearers. Finally, the implementing partner is providing legal aid services for vulnerable and marginalized persons through mobile legal aid clinics and court representation on ALRs violations.
