This sub-project aims to improve access to land and credit for farmers and landholders, with a focus on women and youth in Tunisia. In order to strengthen sub-project beneficiaries’ understanding of  land access, land consolidation processes and financing opportunities, the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (Union Tunisienne de l’Agriculture et de la Pêche - UTAP), in collaboration with the Agricultural Land Agency (Agence Foncière d’Agriculture - AFA) and the Directorate General for Investment Financing and Professional Organizations (Direction Générale du Financement des Investissements et des Organismes Professionnels), is conducting a series of awareness-raising and capacity development activities for landholders and food producers in target regions. UTAP is also fostering dialogue and collaboration between local actors, regional and central authorities on available financial and legal services for landholders and farmers, as well as establishing and supporting Community Participation Committees to serve as platforms to enhance communication and knowledge-sharing among landholders, food producers, and the AFA. Finally, UTAP is delivering a series of training sessions on entrepreneurship in agriculture to members of selected food producer cooperatives headed by women and youth, including Agricultural Services Mutual Societies, Agricultural Development Groups, and other Small and Medium Enterprises.
