This sub-project aims to contribute to strengthening legal and regulatory frameworks to promote healthy diets by advocating for regulatory and fiscal measures, enhancing multi-sectoral coordination, and increasing consumer awareness, with the ultimate goal of reducing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). To this end, the Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights Nepal (FPCRN) is developing advocacy tools and conducting a series of workshops to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations to effectively advocate for the review, adoption, implementation and monitoring of legal and regulatory reforms that promote healthy diets, while supporting improved multi-stakeholder coordination on this issue. In parallel, through policy discussions, and the development and dissemination of a series of evidence-based policy briefs and advocacy materials, FPCRN is also contributing to raising key Government stakeholder awareness and support for regulatory and fiscal policies to promote healthy diets. Finally, FPCRN is conducting a series of awareness-raising initiatives targeting the general public, consumers and other relevant stakeholders on legal and regulatory frameworks to promote healthier diets.
