Toolkits on regulatory approaches to noncommunicable diseases: healthy diets and physical activity

Date of Publication:
Mercredi, septembre 27, 2023
About This Publication:

The rule of law is vital to the response to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). These toolkits offer tools and resources that provide guidance on how the law can be used to curb NCDs and, potentially, to address other global health challenges. They aim to support the integration of legal approaches in the teaching of public health challenges through an interdisciplinary approach grounded in international human rights law. They address NCDs and regulatory and fiscal responses with a geographic focus on countries from two regions: East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda); and South Asia (Bangladesh and Sri Lanka).

Both Toolkits were developed through participatory and consultative processes, as a result of the multidisciplinary collaboration between academics from schools of law and schools of public health engaged from the two regions of focus, in the framework of the Global Regulatory and Fiscal Capacity Building Programme  (Global RECAP).
