Mongolia: Improving the Premises for Growth

Mongolia, one of the youngest democracies, has experienced rapid economic growth thanks to its extensive mineral deposits. However, the country’s investment climate and rule of law are chronically undermined by poor enforcement of court decisions. With support from the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction, IDLO is working with the Mongolian General Agency of Court Decisions to build the capacity of its bailiffs. IDLO trained over 200 bailiffs from all Mongolian regions on effective ways to execute court decisions from May 25 - June 20, 2015.

Mongolia’s economy has traditionally been based on agriculture and livestock.

Mongolia also has extensive mineral deposits that have contributed to the country’s rapid economic growth in recent years.

The country however suffers from a low enforcement of court decisions, which hinders investment climate and the rule of law in this new democracy.

Mr. Batbold, one of IDLO bailiff trainers, is teaching his peers on effective ways to acquire and sell property.

Bailiffs from all 21 Mongolian regions came to Ulaanbaatar to attend 6-day training program.
