IDLO releases First Annual Report on HIV and Health Law Program
17/05/2010 - Italy

Support from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Program has enabled IDLO to undertake ground-breaking work in new areas of health, law and development: pilot projects to expand HIV-related legal services; research on legal service models and the links between legal services and HIV prevention and care; and exploration of the role of the law in protecting and promoting public health.

This is the first annual report of the HIV and Health Law Program, and covers activities undertaken and results achieved in the period April 2009 – March 2010, as well as challenges and opportunities arising. As of March 2010, IDLO had initiated activities to support HIV-related legal services in seven countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Nepal, and Papua New Guinea. IDLO has partnered with UN system and other agencies to undertake capacity building on HIV-related legal issues in Asia Pacific and West Africa, with further regional activities planned in Latin America, Middle East/North Africa, and Southern Africa in April and May 2010

The HIV and Health Law Program supported by OFID commenced on 1 April 2009 and runs for three years.
