IDLO has launched its first training program for judges in Southern Sudan, funded by the Dutch government. The training objectives are based on an assessment jointly conducted by IDLO and the Supreme Court of Southern Sudan in September-October 2009. The training program will cover civil procedure, criminal law, procedure and evidence. It will enhance the capacities of judges in both substantive and practical application of the procedural laws within the context of the emerging South Sudan Common law and Customary principles.

IDLO's Manual on International Law and Standards Applicable in Natural Disaster Situations, the first manual on international legal issues relating to post-disaster rehabilitation efforts can be downloaded here. The resource aims to assist relief workers, particularly non-lawyers, in developing humanitarian responses to natural disaster situations, and also serves as a tool for state authorities and relief organizations to reform domestic legal, regulatory and policy frameworks.
