IDLO network of jurists, bankers and representatives of microfinance institutions from the developing world will convene in Rome on the 12th of November to share the lessons learned on regulation and legislation of Microfinance as a tool of poverty alleviation. The focal point of discussions will be the impact of existing domestic commercial law and regulations on the provision of financial services to the poor; and how to best protect consumers who are semi-literate. The focus will also be on how the European Union can best support microfinance within Europe and in developing countries.
