FORMER IDLO TRAINER PIONEERS NEW NON GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION

Mohana quickly made her mark as a legal trainer after graduating from Kabul University in 2005. She was nominated for an IDLO course while practicing as an expert in civil law with the Hoquq (Rights Department) of the Ministry of Justice. As one of the most promising participants in that course, she was selected by her instructors to be trained as a trainer. After a series of courses and individual coaching sessions in Afghanistan, in 2007 she began to lead her own training sessions. Initially, senior trainers were skeptical that a woman perceived to be young and inexperienced would serve as an effective trainer for more senior, professional men. End-of-course questionnaires, however, revealed that participants felt they had learned a great deal, and that they rated Mohana very highly as a trainer.
With a longstanding interest in supporting women’s rights, Mohana is eager to employ her rich professional skill set for the benefit of women in her own country.
